The Sinking City developer Frogwares has confirmed its next detective title Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One will launch for PlayStation 5 on 16th November 2021. While a PS4 version is also in the works, the team needs more time to wrap up development, so it will arrive at least a few weeks after the PS5 edition has shipped. Frogwares has shared a seven-minute gameplay walkthrough to coincide with today's announcement, which we've embedded further down this article.
The team has also outlined pricing and pre-orders for the PS5 version, with the base game costing $44.99 and a Deluxe Edition coming in at $59.99. Every pre-order of the game will be treated to a free digital copy of the excellent Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments and the Victorian Starter Pack. This includes an exclusive quest, two in-game outfits, and 500 Manghirs (in-game currency).
If you cough up the extra cash for the Deluxe Edition, the season pass is said to contain the Saints & Sinners quest from day one. After launch, there'll also be the Mycroft Holmes questline that "pitches Sherlock against a mysterious shadow figure only known as M". All of this content will also be available for purchase separately upon release.
As for the delayed PS4 version, communications manager Sergey Oganesyan said: "We understand some players will be upset about this news, but we made the decision with you first in mind. Rest assured, we are not cancelling these versions. We only need more time and a little breathing room for our team to wrap these up properly. We are talking a few weeks at most, but this is still to be seen."

Hopefully the game doesn't get delayed. I'd really like to be Sherlock in 2021.
Wife and I Just finished watching all the seasons of "Endeavour" on PBS. Good show and kept making me want more Sherlock with Cumberbatch.
Always had an eye on this. Glad it has a date.
With yet another round of COD and Pokemon... November is pretty empty with only Forza on my list.
Perfect date if it holds.
Didn't Sony give away Crime and Punishment on PS+?
@artemisthemp PS3 version yeah.
How did the Frogwares v Focus debacle end? Has it ended? Last I saw Frogwares was the scummy one trying to break the contracts they signed because they gave Focus way too much power of their IPs
Is crime and punishment the ps4 version or a ps5 update? Happy either way tbh
Really liked Sinking City. For the Lovecraft stuff, not for the build… this looks a lot more refined I may well consider it
Yep I’ll be getting this. There’s a physical edition right?
Great news! $45 for Standard and $60 for Deluxe with Season Pass included.
@Danloaded PS4 version more than likely, I doubt it got a surprise PS5 upgrade.
